Beware the Jury Duty Scam

The phone rings. You answer and someone claiming to be a jury coordinator tells you there’s a warrant out for your arrest because you didn’t show up for jury duty.

Do they have your attention?

You bet. Now they’re going “help” you out. You can pay a small fine over the phone (via credit card). Or you can give them a little information (like your Social Security Number) and they’ll look into why you never received a summons.

Don’t fall for it.

  • Court officials don’t ask for information over the phone.
  • Don’t share personal information when you receive an unsolicited call.
