*NEW* - When will my existing HEFCU account become a SEFCU account?

The conversion of existing accounts will occur later in the summer.

*NEW* - Where should I conduct transactions?

If you have an existing HEFCU account, you should continue to utilize the HEFCU branch locations that you use now. All SEFCU ATMs are available for your use at no charge. And, remember, Allpoint® ATMs are also available to you at no charge.

*NEW* - What changes should I expect on June 1?

As of June 1, all new loan applications and the opening of all other new products and services must go through SEFCU. You will be able to open new accounts and apply for loans at SEFCU branches, or by visiting sefcu.com/loans

*NEW* - Will I need to open a SEFCU account when I apply for a loan? Should I convert all my HEFCU services to the new SEFCU account during this process?

If you apply for a loan after June 1 and are not already a SEFCU member, you will need to open a SEFCU account that your new loan will be linked to. It might make sense for you to move your services over to SEFCU now, depending on your situation. In most cases, it will likely be easier to wait for your primary account to be converted automatically, and for now you can simply open a savings account to attach the loan to. A SEFCU representative can help guide you through this process.

What does it mean to be part of the SEFCU family?

SEFCU has been voted the "Best Bank/Credit Union" by Times Union readers for 12 consecutive years. Now that you are part of the SEFCU family, you'll see all the reasons why we are #1.

What are the benefits to you?

Stability is the greatest benefit of this merger. In today's financial services landscape, success is synonymous with scale. SEFCU is large enough to support the existing needs of HEFCU members, while simultaneously offering exciting new products and services that simply aren't available at smaller credit unions. SEFCU is committed to maintaining the existing HEFCU branch network and staff who will join a network of professionals who take pride in providing you with an outstanding service experience. You'll also enjoy access to SEFCU's full suite of products and services, including additional deposit and loan products, an extensive branch network, more convenient hours of operation, enhanced electronic services, and financial well-being initiatives.

When will the merger take place?

On June 1, 2018, HEFCU will legally merge with SEFCU, but your existing HEFCU accounts will remain unchanged until they are integrated with SEFCU later this summer. As of June 1, all NEW accounts and loan requests should be directed to SEFCU.

Will all of the HEFCU branch locations remain open?

Yes! The branches located in Albany Med, St. Peter's Hospital, and Ellis Hospital will remain open. HEFCU members will have access to the network of SEFCU branches once accounts are converted to SEFCU later this summer.

How do I apply for a new loan?

Starting June 1, new loan requests must be submitted to SEFCU. You may apply online, by phone or visit SEFCU branches at Park South, Niskayuna, or SEFCU Square.

Will I still have access to my account(s) via Online Banking?

Yes! You will continue to have access to HEFCU Online Banking using your existing credentials and password until accounts are converted to SEFCU later this summer. Upon account transition, we will provide information to register for SEFCU OnLine, SEFCU's online banking system, including our Text Banking and award-winning Mobile App.

I have bill payments set up in Online Banking with HEFCU. Will my payee information carry forward to SEFCU?

Your bill pay set-up will continue to operate as it does today until accounts are converted to SEFCU. Upon account transition later this summer, we will provide you information on how to register and how to set up your billers and payments in iPay, SEFCU's bill payment service. Ask a representative if you have any questions.

How long will our debit cards work?

Your current HEFCU debit card will continue to work as it does today until accounts are converted to SEFCU this summer. We are working to ensure you have a new SEFCU debit card issued to you before your HEFCU debit card is deactivated. You will receive ongoing communication with additional details.

How will my ATM access be affected?

HEFCU members already enjoy surcharge-free access to all SEFCU ATMs. You will continue to have access to ATMs at all HEFCU locations in addition to SEFCU's ATM network and the thousands of ATMs in the Allpoint network.

Will I continue to receive statements from HEFCU?
