SEFCU Grant Supports Homeless Veterans

Of the many charitable organizations that SEFCU supports, those that top the list are ones that help the men and women who have served our country. The Albany Housing Coalition Veterans Housing Program–more familiarly called, the Albany Vet House–is one such organization. The Albany Vet House offers 28 beds to homeless veterans who are getting back on their feet. It also provides intensive case management and referrals for health services to the local VA and helps local veterans find meaningful work through the Homeless Veterans Program.

SEFCU Grant Supports Homeless Veterans

Earlier this month, SEFCU provided the Albany Vet House with a $10,000 grant to support its Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) program.

Participants enrolled in VETS receive help pursuing meaningful long-term employment. SEFCU is proud to support this initiative and expand its support of the people who have dedicated themselves to preserving our freedom through military service.

“Our continuing relationship with SEFCU and their approval of our request for our Veterans Employment and Training program will allow at least 40 homeless veterans access to meaningful and sustainable employment by identifying skill sets and resolving barriers to employment,” said Director of Veterans Services Lee Vartigan.

Furthermore, the partnership between SEFCU and the Albany Vet House will include financial education offerings to participants through our nationally-recognized, award-winning Institute for Financial Well-Being.
