Rebbeca LaFountain, Why I Care Employee Recipient

As a young child Rebbeca (Becky) was raised to be grateful for what she had and learned that not everyone was as fortunate as she. Now, as an adult, she continues to share that message with her three young children, serving as an example of what it means to give back.

She said this message really hit home for her when she volunteered to shop for various families during the holidays and had children asking for necessities like socks or winter clothing – not gaming systems or the latest name brand doll. While she was happy to be able to make the holidays brighter for children it gave her perspective and purpose. Her advice to others? “Simply open your eyes and your heart and look around. I promise you will see a need and by doing your small part to contribute you will not only be helping others, you’ll feel great too.”

Becky is a very active volunteer, donating her time to Secret Santa/Adopt-a-Family, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, America Reads, and as a youth soccer coach. She has also spent the past 10 years providing financial education.
