Leadership with A Purpose

Our year-end program where our Management Team gets the opportunity to select charities to receive a financial donation on their behalf produced a total of $174,500 in funds distributed to 79 different organizations across SEFCU’s footprint. The largest amount of funds ($21,500) went to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY.

Funds for Vehicles
In December, SEFCU deployed funds to the Food Pantries for the Capital District, Feed Our Vets, and Clear Path for Veterans to purchase vehicles to help share food with those in need. SEFCU helped the Food Pantries for the Capital District purchase a new Ford Transit van to transport healthy and nutritious food to its more than 65-food-pantry-member network. As a coalition of food pantries in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties, the Food Pantries for the Capital District helps those in our community who need a hand.  During the pandemic, they are working diligently to ensure that our local food pantries are prepared in the face of circumstances that are devastating to our most-vulnerable community members. Each of these member food pantries provides enough groceries for a minimum of three meals per day for at least three days for each person in the household and with help from the new van, they will be able to get these pantry shelves stocked more efficiently to meet the need. Our staff is getting in on the impact by sharing ideas of what to name this new transit van!

In Central NY, Feed Our Vets is enjoying a new vehicle to transport their mobile trailer and distribute food. This partnership allows SEFCU to fulfill its mission to serve veterans under our focus of veteran integration and well-being, as Feed Our Vets provides access to the basic need of food and helps put veterans on a path towards well-being with ample support and resources to other necessities.

Funds were also being distributed toward the expansion of Clear Path for Veterans’ Culinary Program to a mobile platform through the purchase of a food trailer. SEFCU is pleased to partner with Clear Path for Veterans to ensure its mission to use the Mobile Food Trailer to deploy veteran- and military-related canteens are a success. These canteens enable the organization to help veterans with the basic need of food as well as connection to other services like housing, career development, and mental or physical health services.
