Beth Coco

Beth Coco

Beth Coco is responsible for leading SEFCU’s Institute for Financial Well-Being, which guides and empowers members to focus on achieving economic stability and financial health through advice, guidelines and tools, and by developing methodologies for learning and skill building. Most recently, Coco worked as entrepreneur-in-residence at the University at Albany, State University of New York where she helped build a culture of entrepreneurship across the entire campus that engaged the university community by turning ideas into reality. She also created the World of Creativity and Entrepreneurship to attract motivated students to the University at Albany, helping them establish relationships with like-minded students and faculty.

 

Prior to that, Coco founded MicroKnowledge, Inc. in 1986, a company that focuses on consulting, technical writing and professional training. Coco is a graduate of the State University of New York, Empire State College, where she earned a master’s degree in adult workforce education and career development in online learning environments. Coco has an extensive background in national training rollouts, use of technology in the workforce and changing job responsibilities due to implementing technology. She has developed and managed 400-plus professional development-educational projects for private and public sector organizations. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, and entrepreneurial management and a certificate from Cornell University in management and supervisory skills. Coco has received several honors including the Circles of Mercy 2016 Hope and Hospitality Award, Women’s Fund of the Capital Region Trailblazing Woman of 2013, Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence in 2010, the SUNY Empire State College Northeast Center Alumni Hall of Fame award in 2009, and the Best Technology Executive award from the Alliance of Technology & Women in 2006.

Nancy Cassella

Nancy Cassella

Long-time educator, purveyor of financial education, Nancy Cassella, Western Region Financial Wellness Educator, joined SEFCU as a financial educator in 2011. Cassella, who grew up in Syracuse, holds an associate’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Alfred and a bachelor’s degree in vocational teacher preparation in business and marketing from the State University of New York at Oswego. She has strong connections to the Syracuse, Binghamton, and Buffalo regions where she has provided financial education for many years. 

 

Her passion is to provide youth with the tools and skills they need to become financially responsible adults and to promote life-long learning. Cassella strives to create an inclusive, interactive learning environment with hands-on activities and group learning. She is primarily responsible for conducting financial education seminars throughout SEFCU’s Western and Central Regions and in the Southern Tier.

Cheryl Moore

Cheryl Moore

Cheryl Moore, Educator/Media Instructional Designer, began her career at SEFCU in 2009 in the Member Solutions Center providing engaging and informative service experiences for members. Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University at Albany, State University of New York and a master’s degree in learning and emerging technology at the State University of New York, Empire State College. 

 

As an adult learner in this program, Moore provides the Institute team with the latest research and tools to advance learning outcomes with new digital technologies. This knowledge supports the Institute’s mission of providing financial education using state-of-the-art digital tools and resources in line with current methodology and practice.

 

As a small business owner, Moore can easily connect financial education content with her own experience. She has had a rich career in photography and communication, entrepreneurial management, enjoys connecting with people, sharing ideas, collaborating with colleagues, and being creative. As the Institute’s young adult specialist, Moore will be traveling New York State with the Institute team, changing lives as she supports growth and achievement.

Sarah Trela

Sarah Trela

Sarah Trela, Financial Well-Being Administrator, began her SEFCU career in 2010 as a Member Service Manager overseeing staff and operations at various branch locations. Trela holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Russell Sage College and an MBA in information technology management from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

 

A Capital Region native, Trela has a strong work history in the area of administration and workforce development. Her career is on the move as she supports the Institute with knowledge of best practices from her work at the University at Albany. The Institute team relies on Trela for her leadership, attention to detail, and communication skills. She is a creative and positive person, who enjoys leading, planning, trail blazing ahead, and bringing people together. She is the Institute’s go-to contact for all financial education requests throughout the state.

Jenelle Davis

Jenelle Davis

Jenelle L. Davis, Eastern Region Financial Educator, began her SEFCU career in 2013 as a Member Specialist in Syracuse, and later returned to her hometown of Albany, New York as a Member Service Advisor. Before joining the Institute, Davis spent the majority of her time in Albany working in various Capital Region branches, where she was able to network and coach people of diverse backgrounds in financial education. Her passion for people and their financial well-being was greatly sought after and is what made her desire for financial education grow into her recent studies to become a Certified Financial Counselor.

 

Davis holds an associate’s degree in computer science from Hudson Valley Community College and a bachelor’s in business information systems from Messiah College in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She brings enthusiasm and passion to her role with a desire to positively influence lives through solid financial education. When you are greeted by Davis, you will always be greeted with a smile and feel uplifted with an encouraging word that can inspire your future self.

Megan Maloney

Megan Maloney

Megan Maloney, Eastern Region Financial Wellness Educator, began her SEFCU career in 2014 as a Member Specialist. Most recently, Maloney continued her work in SEFCU’s branch network as a Member Service Advisor. In this role, Maloney worked directly with members, witnessing the many financial challenges they faced.  With her significant knowledge of financial concepts and tools that help people save, budget and develop healthy habits, her presentations provide significant opportunities for participants to have their unique questions answered. 

 

Prior to SEFCU, Maloney studied abroad, and participated in course work focused on business management. Through her love of travel, Maloney acquired a deeper understanding for people of all backgrounds.   She brings an attitude of curiosity, respect and compassion to her work life that is captured in the rapid rapport she builds in the classroom with individuals.

 

Maloney shares her passion for people by creating a safe, positive and productive learning environment.  She is highly aware that learners have individual needs and abilities and a unique understanding of where people are in their life, as it relates to their relationship with finances. Maloney uses the three types of engagement that are required for individuals to learn: cognitive, emotional and behavioral.  She makes content interesting, relatable and motivates all participants to learn
