SEFCU defines charitable contributions as the donation of money to an organization recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C)(3) that provides direct services to the community within our footprint. SEFCU’s area of focus for charitable giving is concentrated in the following areas:
Youth Development and Well-Being
We recognize investing in youth has a positive impact on their future. Supporting youth development and well-being initiatives is paramount to ensure that children have an opportunity to reach their full potential. SEFCU supports programs that provide youth with skills to improve their lives. Programs, curriculum, or initiatives that address overall health, food security, and access to healthy meals, safe environments serving at-risk youth during non-school hours, and financial capability are important elements of community giving.
Family Health and Well-Being
SEFCU assists with community development initiatives that provide essential resources such as food, clothing, and shelter for those in need, victims of domestic violence, and special health and safety needs.
Veteran Integration and Well-Being
Supporting our military veterans is a core focus of SEFCU’s corporate philanthropy. We support programs that assist veterans with basic needs such as food security, clothing, adequate housing, healthcare and supportive mental healthcare. In addition, SEFCU supports programs that assists veterans with higher education, career training, and small business development.
SEFCU will consider community development initiatives and projects that enhance the quality of life within the credit union’s footprint. This includes grants that improve program quality as well as organizational effectiveness and efficiencies within the non-profit sector.
Sponsorships and Other Programmatic Grant Considerations
While not all programs fit perfectly into one of the giving categories above, SEFCU will consider partnering with other programs that exist in underserved communities.
SEFCU has staple items that it can provide to non-profit organizations and schools, including winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves, and backpacks. Please inquire within our portal for in-kind requests of this nature.
On occasion, SEFCU is asked to provide support for an event or effort, on a local level, that may not fit the general criteria of our giving program. These requests will be evaluated based on the merits of the request and the measurable impact it has on the community.
