Get heart healthy
February is American Heart Month and there is no better time to make the commitment to lead a heart healthy life than now. Do your part to prevent heart attacks by eating right and exercising regularly.
Though some heart attacks are abrupt and intense, most come on slowly, with only mild pain or discomfort, and often go ignored until it is too late. Don’t lose valuable time when you are experiencing signs of a heart attack. Call 911 immediately. Here are some warning signs to watch out for.
- Chest discomfort – This occurs in the center of the chest and lasts for more than a few minutes.
- Discomfort in other parts of the upper body - Discomfort in other parts of the upper body can also be an indication that a heart attack is occurring.
- Shortness of breath – This feeling may happen regardless of chest or upper body pain, so don’t downplay an episode of shortness of breath.
- Other signs – There are many other signs that can point to a possible heart attack, including cold sweats, nausea, or lightheadedness.
If you experience any of these signs and think that you may be having a heart attack, call 911 immediately! Don’t wait until things take a turn for the worse; celebrate American Heart Month by living a heart-healthy lifestyle today!

 Bowl for Kids’ Sake supports Big Brothers Big Sisters
Since 1993, SEFCU has supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region through our sponsorship of the Bowl for Kids’ Sake event. Over the past 16 years, we have raised over $150,000 that helps match youth in need of guidance and support with volunteer mentors.
This year we are inviting members to join staff in raising money for this great cause through this fun event. The SEFCU Bowl For Kids’ Sake event will be held on March 29th at Westlawn Lanes in Guilderland. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and bowling starts at noon.
