SEFCU gives new meaning to saving some green
Whether you believe it or not, every single person can and does have an impact on our environment. So why not make it a positive one? SEFCU has made the commitment to go green in 2008 so we can do our part to make the planet a better place for us and future generations to live. Check out some of the ways SEFCU will go green.
In our offices
As our branch network continues to grow, so do our opportunities to conserve. Click here to view our Green News Bulletin Board and see how we are going green!.
SEFCU forest
As our way to replenish natural resources and recognize each of our current and future members, SEFCU will plant trees across New York State, one for each of our current members, totaling over 157,000 trees! We'll also plant a tree for each new member that joins SEFCU in 2008.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
Have you ever stopped to think about how many plastic bags we use (and waste) each time we go to the grocery store? Multiply that by millions of Americans and you can see the impact it can have on the environment. To help cut down on plastic waste, every new SEFCU member will receive a reusable grocery bag made from recycled material. To improve energy efficiency at home, new members will also receive a compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulb to decrease energy usage.
Green loans
It's a fact... huge gas guzzling vehicles are not good for our environment and with fuel prices rising, they aren't good for your wallet either! To encourage members to conserve our natural resources, SEFCU will offer 1/4% rate reductions for specific eco-friendly vehicle loans (All vehicles classified as SmartWay Elite in the green vehicle guide compiled by the EPA). Click here to search for a SmartWay Elite vehicle.
Shredding days
Think of how much paper waste your household creates even after just one week. SEFCU will be hosting shredding days at some of our branches so you can get in the habit of recycling while protecting your personal information. Click here to view our shredding day schedule!
