Ever since 1991, when a group of SEFCU volunteers created our holiday Adopt-A-Family program, SEFCU has relied on annual fundraising events and activities to help others in need. Those events include:
- Labor Day 5k -
On Labor Day, more than 650 runners and walkers participated in the 21st SEFCU Labor Day 5k race. The race, which began and finished at SEFCU’s Headquarters in Albany, raised $20,000 for Gilda’s Club of the Capital Region. Click here to view complete race results.
- SEFCU Community Support Program sales. Throughout the year, we host sales of special products that raise funds for children's organizations. From Entertainment® Books and Equinox turkeys to candles, theme park tickets and unique pins, sales in SEFCU branches generate thousands of dollars each year.
- Holiday Sharing. In our largest project each year, SEFCU management and staff become our very own version of Santa's elves—shopping, wrapping and delivering hundreds of gifts to children throughout SEFCU's service area. Those gifts, and the special parties that accompany them, brighten the holidays for hundreds of children in need, whether they live in group homes or crisis centers.
- Bowl for Kids' Sake – Since 1993, SEFCU has been one of the largest contributors to this event. Each spring, SEFCU families and individuals bowl, collect contributions and donate their time to help Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region. To date, we have raised more than $90,000 for this worthy organization.
- Monopoly® Tournament -

In May, SEFCU held its 16th Annual Monopoly Tournament at the Albany Country Club to benefit the Center for Disability Services. The tournament was the most successful to date, raising over $15,000 for this great cause!
The Center for Disability Services helps more than 15,000 individuals and their families at more than 80 locations throughout the Capital Region. The center provides a wide variety of services, ranging from medical aid to vocational services for people of all ages.
